We tried TWICE with Google on how to get to Canmore Engine Bridge in Canmore, Canada, but it kept taking us to garbage cans 🙂 Before I did my own map searching and found the direct and easy way of getting there, plus free parking. It’s close to downtown, and it’s a 10-minute walk. If you walk in the opposite direction, there is a fun hike too!

The Canmore Engine Bridge has become popular due to the HBO series “The Last of Us.” I have never seen the show, but researching Canmore and Banff, this beautiful location became a must on my itinerary.
The Canmore Engine Bridge sits over the Bow River, and there is a wonderful bench to sit and have a hot drink at or fish. The river water color is just beautiful.
So how do you EASILY and EXACTLY get to Canmore Engine Bridge in Canmore, Alberta? Don’t use Google Maps. This route will take you directly to it. And it’s easy terrain.
If driving, as a good starting place, start at 8th Street right in downtown Canmore, where the Wood restaurant is (a great restaurant). Turn right onto 8th Avenue, which turns into Fairholme Drive, and continue to 11th Street. Right after 11th Street, there is a hospital sign. Park on the right between 11th and 12th, or anywhere after. This is free parking.

Park and walk west on Spur Line Trail. In about 10 minutes, you will reach Canmore Engine Bridge! That’s it!
If you are walking from downtown Canmore (if you can’t find parking), do the same as driving. It will be about a 20 to 25-minute walk from The Wood Restaurant.
